Please help with Arduino Single-Sided Serial Board (version 3)

Hi...

I tried to make the Single-Sided Serial Board (version 3), I connected everything the right way, i'm using the latest Arduino 0022 for programming. i wanted to burn the bootloader using parallel port programmer. the following error appeares

avrdude: AVR device not responding
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.
avrdude: Expected signature for ATMEGA168 is 1E 94 06
avrdude: AVR device not responding

avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000
0x00 != 0x07
avrdude: verification error; content mismatch

please help since i really need this, i searched the internet and other forums and found nothing except a solution that states to remove the oscillator and then connecting it back in but it doesn't work...

You didn't forgot to power your Arduino? The parallel cable does not provide power. Otherwise, just check all wiring again.

sure i did power the Arduino with a 9V DC, all wirings are correct and in place
