Please tell me about the bumps on the back of the Arduino Uno rev 3

Please forgive me for asking such a beginner question: I have searched extensively and found no answer.

I am starting to learn about robotics and I have a new Arduino uno rev 3. What are the pointy bumps on the back of the board? Are they extremely fragile? While opening the box, the board fell back into the box (not far, about one inch) and landed on the bumps on the back. It appears to be alright, but I hope that I have not dulled any points or damaged it.

My friend is helping me program it, and when it is done must I take extra precautions that nothing touches those bumps when it is mounted in the robot?

Thank you, I appreciate any information.

The only thing you need to worry about is that the solder connections are not resting on a conductive surface when the board is powered up.
