Pls suggest me any IC which can decide on movement of object.

I am designing a GPS tracker and what i wanted is to detect if GPS tracker is moving or not (i kept GPS tracker in car).

If i am able to find that car is not moving then i can put GPS in standby mode and can save some battery. And once Car start moving then i can awake GPS and keep logging the data.

Looking for IC which i can incorporate in MY PCB to find movement.

I tried with accelerometer but it can not detect linear motion.(till now i didn't find any ways to check linear motion).

Please suggest me any inexpensive solution.

Without an outside reference, there is no way to detect steady state motion.

Use the GPS to detect when the car is not moving not an accelerometer.

If the GPS unit returns x number of readings of the same LAT/LON then put it into standby and activate your accelerometer. If the accelerometer returns changing values (allowing for jitter) then the car must be accelerating (starting to move) and then you wake the GPS from standby.

In all likelyhood, if you look at the back of the speedometer, you'll find some wires. They may be relevant to what you seek.
