Plug In USB Port Protection

I want to use the 5V pin on my Arduino and have it connected to my laptop's USB port.

Obviously, I don't want to risk frying my USB port so I was wondering if there are any devices I could plug in to protect it.

Does anything like this exist?

Thanks,

Calum

Or roll your own...

Anything cheaper?

Cheaper than $10?

Cheaper than $10?

The device in the link above costs £65

Yes but the chip is only $10, but not exactly "plug in" I suppose.

With an account at Analog, two of the chips can be had for the low price of free. Analog has a reference circuit so that completely removes any need for thinking to make this device for yourself at the cost of approximately two USB connectors and some perfboard plus a few passives, perhaps five bucks of parts.
