Plugging and unplugging USB cable

So I'm new at Arduino programming. As I write and test my example projects, it seems to me that I'm plugging in and unplugging the USB cable from the board a lot. I'm currently using a Leonardo and it has the small micro USB plug.

I'm afraid I'm going weaken that small plug and damage it some day. What options do I have to cut the power from the board to the PC USB power port so I can make adjustments to my bread board wiring?

Is there a USB power shield of some kind with a toggle switch that I can just flip back and forth to power and depower the board?

(Sorry if this isn't in the right Category)

Thanks...

Rather than removing from the Arduino, remove from PC.

Why? Just leave it plugged in.

Another option is to get a USB extension cable and plug and unplug the connection at the end of the extension cable. That way neither the PC socket nor the Leonardo socket get over-used.
