PNP-NPN MOSFET Substitute

I have a space constrained application and would like to know if anyone has favorite (individual PNP and NPN, not in one IC) PNP and NPN they have had success with? DFN, BGA, etc is ok.

I would like it to work well with 1.8v-3.0v at the gate. I am looking to substitute for the FDN327 and FDN352AP.

  • Assume you mean N and P Channel MOSFETs.

Have had great success with these over the years, pick your poison.

Thanks! Yes, P-Channel and N-Channel... I was looking for something even smaller than a SOT-23-3. I can find options, but I was hoping there was a super small one people liked... This looks compelling: https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/csd23280f3.pdf?HQS=dis-mous-null-mousermode-dsf-pf-null-wwe&ts=1697757339766&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.mouser.com%252F

Hummm, assume you will not be responsible for the soldering.

:wink:

:smile: nope. not my job... That is super small. More so than necessary... That's why I though someone here might have used something small, but maybe more in between this and an SOT-23

BGA version looks like it might be a little easier...

SC-70

In what circuit or circuits will they be used? What will they drive / switch?

SC-70 looks like a good size... pretty easy to work with.

I have a need to make things smaller, but don't have one application in mind. ... This is more of background research. Most of the time I need to switch relatively low current, ~150ma max. Just needs to be efficient at 1.8-3.0v gate voltage.

I found this in a schematic: DMC2400UV, COMPLEMENTARY PAIR ENHANCEMENT MODE MOSFET. It's a pair, but looks pretty good.

Sometimes the community has a component that is well loved... That is usually a good place for me to start...

Hi,@

Can I suggest you get a prototype working first with standard/available components.
Then work on making it smaller, you may find you are constrained to packaging by component electronic characteristics.

Also don't forget when making it smaller, heat dissipation and can you easily troubleshoot it in the future?

Why does it have to be about sub SMD size?

So why is it;

Thanks.. Tom... :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

I have a number of applications coming up in the next 12 months, not one in particular.
I desire them to be small.
There isn't a particular circuit that I need help with.
I was just wondering if the community had a small P-channel or N-channel that they liked.
Good point about the heat dissipation... My current requirements are pretty low, but I hadn't thought too much about that... This is where I get value just asking the question.

HI,
You need to work out if you are;
Low Side switching, like your project here, a N-CH MOSFET switches the Low or Gnd side of the Load.
or
High Side switching where a P-CH MOSFET switches the High or Positive supply side of the Load.

Opto-Coupler application would also be another alternative if you need to isolate your control circuit from the load circuit.

Sounds good... Opto-Coupler is a good idea too.
