PNP transistor 2n4123

Would it be possible to create a login level converter/ shifter with PNP transistor 2N4123? I am aware of a schematic using NPN transistors bit I'm not sure about PNP. I ask because it's what I have on hand from salvaging parts from dead electronics. Data sheet attached. Working on a project with my son and it requires a level shifter for i2c communication.

If the circuits have common ground and differing (positive) supply voltages, an NPN open collector circuit
can be used. A PNP is no use.

A 2N4123 is a NPN transistor not PNP.

Excellent, problem solved! Unless of course the device number is incorrect and it really is a PNP.

Face palm.....

Hi,

I blame dyslexic keyboards myself, my work keyboard does this to me at least once a day.

Tom...

I got my data sheets mixed wile vigorously salvaging parts from old circuit boards. It was a wild day. I woke the following day with a resistor stuck to my cheek because I passed out in a pile of loose parts. Probably knocked out because of fume inhalation. Who knows what those ancient boards were mode of. Some smelled like cat pee.

"Oh I love the smell of hot solder flux in the morning.."
