Port issues with IDE 2. 0.3

Hi, I just re entered the arduino world by installing IDE2.0.3 (in windows 11) and connecting an arduino nano board. I had almost no succes on making a Connection with the board despite many recommondations found on the web. Maybe one on 30 attempts succeeded. (acces denied)
Then I installed the 1.8.19 version and everything works flawlessly.

I also noticed, 2.0.3 takes about 20 seconds longer to startup?

Any comments on this?

Hi @hast66. Thanks for your report.

There is a formal bug report that looks similar:

I did some experimentation and found I am able to reproduce the fault under certain specific conditions.

I would like to determine whether you are experiencing the same problem. Please tell me which USB chip your Nano board has. The chip is usually located on the bottom of the board on the end nearest the USB socket.

The common chips:

FTDI FT232R

WCH CH340

(that picture is of the chip on an Uno board, but the chip on the Nano board would have the same markings and package as shown in the picture)

@ ptillisch Thank you for your reaction

The chip on my Nanoboard is the

FTDI FT232R

Sincerely,

Hast66

Thanks for the information!

My finding was that the issue is specific to uploading via an FTDI FT232R chip. I can reproduce it reliably with those boards, but not with any of my other boards.

It is valuable to know that the problem is also occurring for others with this specific chip on their boards.
