Hey, this is my first time using Arduino, but I need it for a project.
My question is:
Is it possible to use an Arduino Pro Mini 3.3V together with a battery, a Grove volume sensor, and an RGB LED, where the LED changes colors based on the dB volume? The components need to be as small as possible because I want to fit everything into a case. Also, does anyone know what type of battery I should use?
Please add links to the datasheets of volume sensor and RGB LED.
Interesting project but we are not a free design or code writing service. We will be happy help out with your design and or code but first you have to make an attempt to design it, write it, post it and explain what is not working properly.
If there is hardware it is always best to post links to technical information as there are many versions of the same or different items. Since we cannot see your project, my eyes are to weak, you need to post using the language of electronics, an annotated schematic, the language of electronics, (best) or a clear picture of a drawing. Pictures never hurt. Frizzing diagrams are not considered schematics here.
Once you have built this how do you plan on calibrating the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) or is just a SWAG?
Here is an SPL meter project I made. It's not exactly the same but there are lots of notes so it should get you started.
There are also lots of "warnings" about why it's almost impossible to make a "real" SPL meter. And, you generally need a working SPL meter to calibrate yours.
It has a voltage regulator so you can use a higher voltage and that means the battery can discharge more and you can still have enough voltage to power the board. You can measure the mA draw and then estimate batter life from its mA-Hr rating.
