Just receive my new P X8 and trying to connect to it. My PC doesn't seem to see it . I've added the board to the IDE as it stated and I'm trying to "find" it in the cloud. But it cant discover the board. This is my first P X8. Can 1 of you help this noob on this board. Thank you
Reading more.... does the board need to be "flashed" ? its doing a LED sequence that seems to be indicative to needing something. This is my first one so Im a idiot on it. I thought I read it came OOB ready for programming. Maybe not
Thanks and sorry
When you say that your "PC doesn't seem to see it", do you mean that there is no port for it in the IDE?
I take it that you have installed the Arduino OS Mbed Portenta Boards...
If not, it may pay to look at https://docs.arduino.cc/tutorials/portenta-h7/setting-up-portenta.
You should not have to flash anything as the operating system for the i.MX8M is installed. The Linux OS seems to be critical for using the IDE to upload sketches to the M4.
Hey thank you for responding.
New update.
I have been able to finally communicate with the X8 board. Turns out it was a USB cable I was using. I won’t get into details because I’ll assume we all know basics about computers and connecting devices up and using device manager etc.
so now I was able to upload the basic blink example to the board. I can see the board in device manager on my pc. And using the Arduino 2.0 ide , it recognizes the board on its com port. Now I’ll have to figure out how to use the arduino cloud and connect it to my WiFi.
Thank you for your response.
Have a great day
