Possable power source

I just got a 9.6v 2000mAh RC battirey and was wandering if i can just plug it into the power jack or if i need to change the current or voltage first. Ive tryed to find the specs for the power regulator that the arduino uno uses but havnt had much luck. Any help is welcomed. thank you

The recommended input voltage is 7-12v, so 9.6v should be fine as long as you are not drawing copious amounts of current through the arduino. But you should be aware of the fact that the onboard regulator is linear and will dissipate about half of the battery's energy as heat ( Read: wasteful). If efficiency is critical you might consider a switching regulator.
