Hi All, Please do not get alarmed but since I installed the new version of the IDE and joining the Adafruit forum as well as this one I have experienced two complete system lockouts where no mouse input was available.
At the time I was running two Feather M0 RFM69 boards connected to my dev machine. I have never experienced any kind of problem like this with this machine since I set it up three years ago. I was forced to reset the first time and the second time I had to do a power down.
I was not running to my knowledge any part of the v2 ide but I was running two sessions of v1.8.19 with the above example code.
I had not shut down or rebooted the pc since trying v2 (arduino-ide_2.0.0-rc3_Linux_64bit downloaded on 8th Feb) so perhaps there were residual daemon processes running. I had also used the utility ~/.arduino15/packages/builtin/tools/serial-discovery/1.3.1/serial-discovery which seemed perfectly OK.
I have not had a problem since a full shutdown and the same code (less v2 ide) has been running for a couple of hours now.
I hope this does not put off others from beta testing, just make sure you take care to save your work.
If there is any further info I can give, please ask. Hope to see the new IDE release soon.
Best regards Ozpoz.
P.S. Going to bed now. Been up most of the night because I was quite excited at getting the two Feather M0 RFM69 module running.
When it happened, did you try disconnecting the boards from your computer?
I have experienced problems with the mouse going unresponsive on my computer when the program I had running on a native USB board connected to my computer was going haywire.
There is another report about the IDE causing the mouse to become disabled here:
The issue reported there does have significant differences in that they are able to reproduce it after only a matter of minutes and with a direct correlation to working with the IDE.
I unplugged the mouse and tried several usb ports but none of them worked.

I am sorry I do not remember, it was in the middle of the night when I could not sleep.
The dev platform is BackBox 6 Ubuntu 18.04.x lts with zfs (quite long in the tooth now). This was only yesterday maybe the logs could shine some light on things but I am not well versed enough to know which or what to capture but will gladly provide the info if you can tell me where to look.
The OS uses xfce persistent sessions. The first freeze allowed a front panel reset and after restoring the session I renamed the v2 program and settings folders. The second freeze disabled even the reset button and a bios power down (press and hold) had to be performed.
After the full shutdown I restarted the same two Feather nodes with two sessions of v1.8.18 ide again. The PC has been running all day without a problem apart from usb registration which I reported in another post.
Strangely the keyboard still worked in both cases but again I did not have my wits about me or the knowledge to investigate further.
I am quite sure though that I had shutdown the v2 gui after the first freeze and so I suspect some daemon process/processes were still active.
My situation differs here in that I am sorry that I did not continue with v2 of the ide because I had just got going with the LowPowerLabs example code after a couple of fruitless days trying to figure out the correct pin mapping.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish any further info.
