Possibly bricked Arduino Uno with the wrong firmware

So I was having an issue uploading my sketch to the Arduino Uno. I got the following error:
avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "usb:0/140000/0/1": The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. Problem uploading to board.

I don't remember where I read this but somewhere I got the idea that the firmware needed to be updated. So I tried following this guide: https://docs.arduino.cc/hacking/software/DFUProgramming8U2

The flip software said that the hex file from Github was out of range but I think I uploaded something that came with flip because my Arduino now appears on the device manager as an ATmega16U2 instead of an Uno and I have no idea if it is fixable.

The firmwares for the TTL-to-USB converters are (on a Windows system) located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\arduino\avr\firmwares\atmegaxxu2\arduino-usbserial; there are a few hex files,Arduino-usbserial-atmega16u2-Uno-Rev3.hex is probably the one you need.

I have no experience with Atmel Flip.
