I have speakers that have a potentiometer controlled volume. I want to be able to remotely control them using an ir clicker. Is it possible to replace the potentiometer with an arduino? what pin should I use?

You need to give us more information.
Do the speakers have amplifiers in them?
Can you tell us your electronics, programming, Arduino, hardware experience?
An Arduino will work as an IR receiver and do what you ask, but we need to know about the actual volume control potentiometer.
How many potentiometers are there, what are there values?
There are "digital potentiometers" that will do the job, but how your pot is wired will influence if they will work.
Can you post a picture of them and how they are mounted in the speaker enclosure/pcb?
