Power consumption

SIM7600E modem

The modem will work with 5-12V DC, which can be fed through onboard RMC connector. The modem is powered by High current Low Dropout Linear Voltage regulator so as to with stand high surge current requirement (may rise up to 2A).

Why will it go up to 2A, the 4g smartphones which we use uses much lower power with more features ,

As I'm doing an project on location based system it is very important to know how to reduce the power consumption.

Will it consume more if i keep transmitting through gsm?

This is not a continuous 2 A draw. This is talking about short bursts of up to 2 A while transmitting. The average current draw will be much less. Certainly something similar occurs in your smartphone, though I don't know the exact numbers.

How do you know, for sure, that the electronics inside a Smartphone does not have a similar current requirement ?

The peak current will be affected by the speed at which the electronics works.

Think about it this way. if you are content to fill your bath over a 30 minute period a slow water-flow (few amps) will be sufficient. On the other hand if you want to fill the bath in 6 minutes you will need a 5 times higher flow rate ( 5 x amps) but the total amount of water (the total amp-hours) will be the same in both cases.
