Power question Duemilanove & Waveshield

Noob question. Can I run a Duemilanove and a Wave shield from 4 AA batteries? This give me 6 volts. I'm not sure how much current a Wave shield uses. I have no way to test this without cutting some wire.

Thanks.

I'm not sure how much current a Wave shield uses. I have no way to test this without cutting some wire.

The amount of current it draws should be on the data sheet for the shield.

Whether it is or is not, though, isn't relevant for the question that you asked. The shield uses 5V, as does the Arduino. The batteries that you propose to use provide more than enough voltage to power the Arduino and shield.

Whether they provide enough current is a separate question. They provide more than enough for the Arduino. The adafruit.com site does not provide any details that I can find about the current requirements, but one of the pictures shows it being used with a minty boost, which uses only 2 AA batteries.

Thanks PaulS.
