Power source for servo motor MG966r

Hi, Is it possible to run a servo motor MG966r through Arduino and a power Adaptor of 5V 2A or 12V 2A?

Other options?

Use the Arduino for the servo control signal only. Use a separate power supply for the servo...

From the datasheet: https://www.digikey.com/en/htmldatasheets/production/5014637/0/0/1/mg996r

  • Stall Current 2.5 A (6V)
  • Operating voltage: 4.8 V a 7.2 V

Yes, I get that
What tipe of external power would you use?

  • Battery or plug-in ?

No you did not. You said:

A 6V power supply capable of at least 3A would be a good idea.

Servos and brushed DC motors briefly draw the stall current every time they start moving.

You are right, I’m still learning about it and I thought that using an adapter connected to Arduino power plug would work.

And now I don’t know what type of separated power supply is better and how to connect it

I thought something like this would work

It should be fine.
