Hello!
I'm a newbie and actually i don't have a strong background in eletronics.
I would like to know how the power supplies are sorted in Arduino uno r3.
I understood that there are 3 ways:
via usb
2)Via Vin pin
via power jack
I'm sorry but i cannot read the schema and so it's not so clear which is the priority.
If the power jack or Vin is used, the power of the usb is no longer used.
The power jack and Vin are almost the same, but I think the power jack has an extra diode to prevent damage with negative voltages.
That is no problem. The higher one takes over. But the current from the power jack might flow into the power supply that is connected Vin. Perhaps you can use a diode to Vin to avoid that. In fact, you can have 10 power supplies with diodes, all to the power jack or Vin.
You can connect and disconnect the power jack, Vin and the usb while the Arduino is running.
That's the point: what if i connect both vin and power jack?
No.
You can use the power jack and USB at the same time.
If you wanted to use Vin and the power jack at the same time you need to add a diode between Vin and your external power supply.
Cathode goes to the Vin pin. 1N4007.
