Power supply for Nema 17

Hello, I am fairly new to using stepper motors with an Arduino and I need some help. I have purchased 3 Nema 17 stepper motors with the A4988 Driver. I´ve read that recommended voltage is 12-24v and 1-1.5amps. I have a 15v 3amps power supply, would that work to use as long as I set the current limiter on each driver to 1amp? That would essentially mean 15v and 1amp to each motor as they are in parallel? Please correct me if I'm wrong or it doesn't work like this.

There are very different NEMA17 steppers regarding their electrical characteristics. NEMA17 only defines the size of the mounting flange. So please provide the electrical data of your stepper ( exact Type/datasheet).
Selecting a proper PSU for steppers with a current driver like the A4988 isn't as easy as to sum up some currents. You need to calculate the needed power.

This is the datasheet that came with the motor, I believe it is a Nema 17HE15-1504S

Thank you for your input!

1.5A and 2.3 Ohms coil resistance means 5.1W per coil. ( Current is per coil!).
With 2 stepper ( = 6 coils ) that's 30.6W. Add at least a safety margin of 50%, so you need a PSU that can provide >45W.

Then I should be good with my 15v 3amp PSU that I have?

Thank you very much for your help!

You are at the lower limit, but it should work.
