Power supply for Servo motor MG945

Hi everyone. My new project is a remote Infrared launcher for my water rocket. The system I want to build is basically a Servo (MG945) which is mechanically pulling the wire that releases the rocket, once a IR signal is sent from a distance. What kind of battery supply should I use for the servomotor? Can I use a 9V battery (The one in the image below) both for the Arduino and the servo, with an appropriate voltage regulator (9v to 6V), or should I use a completely separated power supply? Thank you.

I suspect that battery is not going to work, use that for the Arduino, but a separate more powerful battery for the servo, perhaps a 12V battery.

The MG945 requires a power supply that can deliver 4.8 to 6.6V at at least 1.2 Amperes.

  • Four AA batteries (6 volts) in a battery case/holder.

Even better, a 6V lantern battery
