Power Supply for Vex/Arduino Robot

I plan on building a robot with Vex hardware and an Arduino Uno. I would be using RobotC to program the Arduino. For the controller, I would set up a wireless Xbox 360 controller and wireless receiever to RobotC. What power supply for the robot should I use? Some possible options were standard Vex batteries or a 9V. Would both of these work with this proposed robot? If not, what else could I use? Thank you.

No links? You assume we know every piece of hardware and software by name, we do not, so please

Well knowing what I know about those parts, I do recommend more than a 9v, it truly depends on the number of motors youre using and how many amps they pull, the arduino at peak can pull about 500ma (0.5 amps as well as it is regulated so 9v into the port wont matter, it'll bump it down) and this will determine how long it can run (9v is great and all but they are truly piss pour at amperage delivery) so what youre looking for is a higher amerage battery, as long as the motors are 5 or 6 volts, then I would recommend AA's or if you have the space: C's or even D's. Otherwise go shopping for something thatll more likely fit your specific amperage "electrical budget". If you dont know those specs and keep the motors in check, youll brown out (massive voltage drop thatll reset the components) or even black out (unlike a brown out, it wont recover, itll go down and stay down).

You will need to use 7.2V 3000mAh battery.

Instead of going with XBox controller (which requires a lot of hacking and can create problems with other RF signals in the space) I used Arduino 101 and Android app to contrl Vex Motors.
