Hi All,
I need your suggestion. I plan on making my planetary geared 17 nema stepper motor(19:1) portable.I zeroed in on 12v(7ah) lead acid battery. Can I connect directly to TB6560 stepper driver to power the motor? TB6560 driver has max 3amp however the motor draws only 2 amps and Uno is powered by AA seperately.
I am worried that lead acid battery might fry the stepper driver..
TB6560 chip is rated for an abs max of 40V, 12V isn't going to trouble it. You might not get
the speed you want though, stepper max speed depends on the supply voltage.
The current drawn from the supply will typically be a lot less than the motor current for a
low impedance stepper as stepper drivers do power conversion.
Thank you for clearing my doubt. I have the motor mounted of a dslr slider and the motor is able to pull camera vertically for now. I guess 12v battery should do for my motor..
I forgot to ask if wattage matters in lead acid powerinf a geared stepper motor? There are few lead acid batteries of 12v output with 7watts and some with 80 watts power output.. which one should I choose? The planetary geared motor will pull camera on 45 degree on a 127 cm slider.
