Power troubles

So I have a project using both pnp and npn transistors so I have the wires to the collectors from both 5+ and gnd. Today I noticed that there is only around 206 ohms of resistance between the two wires for some reason, presumably a short somewhere. I was trying to hook up some potentiometers to the analog pins and was getting some weird results and this is what my investigation came to. Will this cause problems to have such a low impedance between 5v and gnd? Also would that cause the potentiometer readings to only return numbers around 1000?

If you only hook the potmeter to the analog pin does it work properly?

I think I got it working. There must have been something weird going on, thanks though.
