Power up LED strip 9v battery and Arduino

What kind of LED lights do I have here? Got them from a Jhonny Walker sign, turning them into a Lightsaber. The plan is to go through the 5V of the Arduino to the 9V battery(with a switch), I could add 220 ohm resistor, and run the blink example to power up the LED which will light up my Lightsaber. I count 30 LEDs on the strip. I can power it up with a 9v battery? Or can you recommend LED strip I could use for my light saber.

9V batteries belong in smoke detectors. They are turn evil when used in electronics projects.

I think these things would make a great lightsaber. You could use them to make cool pulsing animations.

You'd want to the leads as part of a frame for the LEDs. Connect the LEDs so the dome of one LED points at the base of the next LED. The LEDs would kind of be stacked on top of one another. My guess is you'd need three LEDs for every two inches.

The link is to the 5mm LEDs, you might want to wait for the 8mm LEDs to come back in stock.

I have a bunch of LED strips like the one in the photo you attached. I don't think they'd make a good lightsaber.

Even if you use a single color of LEDs, don't use them on a strip. You want the LED to visible from 360 degrees.
