Powering 9kg and 20kg servos

Hi,

For my project , i will need to control 6 servos (4MG996R and 220kg servos) with bluetooth (sliders in smartphone).

Therefore, i need to know which powering stuff i will have to use . I thought about using 4*1,5v batteries,
but i'm not quiet sure that it will be enough to power the 6 servos.

Thanks.

Look up the stall currents for the servos (typically 5 to 10 times the running current).

The power supply must be able to supply the total stall current, for all the servos that will be moving at once.

Thanks for your reply.

the sum of stall currents (6 servos) is 13 A.

I want to know if the adafruit servo driver could handle the job .

What does the documentation for the driver say?

This is the link of the driver's datasheet : https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/downloads/pdf/16-channel-pwm-servo-driver.pdf

They do suggest a 10A supply as one possible choice - I presume the board will take 1A per servo
(perhaps getting warm in the process), otherwise it would be struggling to run 16 servos at all.

So long as you power supply can handle that sort of peak current it should all work - for 1.5V cells you'd
need some very big ones - a 6V SLA battery might be more practical (unless weight is an issue).
