Powering BlinkM from adaptor and arduino from usb?

Hi,
I am sorry if this question has been asked before but the searchengine is not working atm.

I was wondering whether it was possible to power a bundle of BlinkM's with a 5V-2.4A adaptor separately from the Arduinoboard, which would be running off from USBpower. It would still need to send data to the I2C lines of the BlinkM though.

And does the Arduino need to be ground with the whole BlinkM circuit then? (so basically, how would this look like on schematics?) Sorry for the noobish like question but I am here on my own and there is no one to verify on what I'm thinking of at the moment.

All the grounds get connected together. The BlinkM grounds should be connected to the external power supply ground and Arduino ground. The +5 volts from the external supply only connects to BlinkM.

have fun!

yay ^^

thank you for the quick answer btw
