Powering my hydroponics project (5VDC and 12VDC components)

Hi all,

I'd really appreciate some input on my hydroponics project. I'm struggling to understand how to power all of my components.

I have the following:

I envisage powering the 5VDC components with 5V supply to the Arduino Mega, and then having the 12VDC components (controlled via the relay) powered by a single 12v supply in some fashion? is this possible?

Having two power supplies, one for 5V and another for 12V, is acceptable.

Sounds ok to me as long as the power supply units suit the loading.

Tip for your 12v 6a pump might be to use an old pc power supply to keep costs down.
