Now I bought another 5m reel of the same led strip and dont know how to power them both up, was looking for amplifiers on ebay, got really confused, on how to choose and connect them. So Im asking for your help, which one do i need from these :
Or maybe I need some other, or its easier to just buy the 12v 10a power supply, I really cant figure this out, and I have tried, looked for forums on led strips on 2 languages !( there seems to be none of those btw ! ) so im stuck, and a bit frustrated, and this is the only place I think I can get real help. Also if there were a scheme for the connection, thadbe great, ty.
Wow, you're like ripping that seller off at this low price!! (Just kidding. I'm sure he's still making money)
So my best bet is to connect first rail to the power supply, and then the second rail to the end of the first rail. Each rail seems to have two connectors of possibly opposite genders. That's my guess. You can try to see if those two black plugs mate just fine. Depending on your power supply's capability you may see both rails light up but dimmer than if you power one rail.
To control it, maybe use the remote control and record its button press and use IRremote from this guy:
Yeah I can connect them together on one power supply, not shure will they light up at all or will just be dimmer than one rail, thats why I want them both to have enough power, and on the listings they ussualy say that one 12v 5a power supply is for one rail only, of smd RGB 5050 60led/m strip. And I want them both to work at their fullest and brightest, just like one of them above my head right now, the second rail is on its way, so I need to decide on what to order for power boost, another power supply or just a cheap amplifier, or neither ?
about the Iremote, i dont have an adruino controller or smth like that, just dont know where else to ask this sort of qustion, but defenetly want myslef an adruino starter kit, for when ill have the time and skills for it.
Yeah I considered that at first, then thought that it would be easier to buy one for 10A, wouldnt take up two sockets, and I would surely need the spare 5A since everyones asking for a strip of their own. About the dim or bright, I dunno why, but I kinda belive the listings when they say a 12v 5a is suited for one 5m rgb led strip 60led/m. So i think even if I bought a diffrent power supply, it would still be 12v 5a, so dont think it would affect the brightness, or was this a joke :).
About adruino, yeah im still on the edge of it, I love learning to use siemens microcontrollers at school, making them react to sensor, and all sorts of buttons, making programms etc, so I guess arduino would suit my intrests as well.
