Does anyone know if arduinos can be purchased in bulk, pre-programmed? I see that the microcontrollers can: Preprogrammed AVR Microcontrollers
But I was thinking of packaging up an arduino pro mini in a kit, already programmed. Are any companies doing this? If not, what is the alternate solution that I'm not thinking of?
What is pre-programmed ? Just the bootloader or a sketch ?
When you want a sketch pre-programmed, you should give them a *.hex file.
One of the larger suppliers (mouser, farnell, or the other one) can supply fully pre-programmed ATmega chips (just the chip, not the Arduino board).
How many Arduino boards will it be, I think you can do up to 100 yourself. Perhaps 1000 could be too many.
When you let a less known company pre-program it for you, there is a quality issue. Perhaps they will use a low voltage causing many drop-outs in the next few years.
