Anyone any inside knowledge as to why the price of Adafruits Pro Trinket has gone through the roof lately? Last month I bought them for £7.43 each including VAT...this month it's £7.80 - plus VAT - so £9.36.
Some fool on Amazon is trying to rush people at £20 a time for them...do they know something I don't? Should I stock up on them?
Not according to Adafruit...no new export charge their end (I asked them). Just the good old British "let's rip off our customers" policy at work it seems

Someone has to fill the 'rip-off prices' gap left by Maplins.

Similar to the British East India Company which was able to sell its 17M pounds of surplus due to the Tea Act, Trump is attempting to right the ship; however, a 20% value added tax is acceptable.

Yes but it has always been useful to nip around the corner and get the desperately needed 220 ohm 1/2 watt resistor.
I will miss them.
So will I. I went to a couple of their shops yesterday to see what bargains I could find. I picked up a 7 socket powered USB2 hub, a set of 2 toolboxes, some heat-shrink, a couple of bulbs, a couple of rechargeable PP3s and a few other bits and pieces. Most was at half price, but I still ended up spending over £45!!

Oh yeah, I visited several of the local Radio Shacks as they were closing a few years ago, and spent more there than I probably had in the previous 45 years!

I went to a third branch today and spent a further £16.

Battery deals are very good also, tempting though to buy more of them than shelf life would allow.
Yes. As I already have about 16 AAs and 12 AAAs, I also decided against buying more. The other problem would have been where to store them!!!
I'm thinking of visiting another of their shops, a little further away this time, in the next couple of days.
They were selling Pro trinkets at £7 a pop...but got reluctant to supply when I ordered all ten that they had.
Why not the Pro Mini? Probably because I don't know what I'm doing...I started with a trinket and I'm "used" to it now (by my humble standards).
Found a local guy in the end who ordered me a bunch of them direct and didn't hammer me for his profit. Anyone local to Yorkshire should consider calling Mallinsons Electronics...good bloke, won't mess you around.
No official line on why some Amazon sellers are trying to gouge people for £30 though...

It's amazing how many people believe that something is better just because it costs more.
Consider, for example CocaCola verus Tesco Cola.
...R
CocaCola can be cheaper than bottle of water.
IS
Tesco Cola cheaper than Tesco Water?

I won't go near Amazon after a situation where I wanted a book they had for sale.
I clicked the approapriate "buttons" and got to where it asked for my credit-card details, BUT it hadn't told me how much the PACK/POST robbery was that they charge.
I complained on line and I got an "online" "operator", all I kept getting the standard replies and nowhere.
Then I mentioned "Consumer Affairs".
The writing style of replies instantly changed, I think I actually was chatting with a robot up till then.
It took a while, but they calculated the P/P cost, 125% of the value of the book.
I explained that is why I wanted TOTAL cost before I committed anything.
I then got a robot reply, like "Did we satisfy your enquiry?" so I let loose on their reply box, surprising it had a character count limit.
I didn't buy the book, and I filled in a complaints online form at Consumer Affairs, I got the standard robot reply "We have recieved your mesage and we will blah blah blah...".
No reply since.

If Amazon are so turned on with logistics and material handling efficiency, why do they gouge you for P/P?
So they can waste money on drone delivery service?
