Print Arduino Uno output to Macintosh screen

I’ve started following Paul McWhorter’s excellent Arduino tutorials on YouTube. He develops on Windows and I’m on a Mac. In lesson 4 he talks about printing over the Arduino serial port and reviewing the output on the serial monitor. What’s the best way to do this on a Macintosh?

There are at least three ways to start Serial Monitor:

  1. Select "Serial Monitor" from the Tools menu.
  2. Press Command-Shift-M, the menu shortcut for "Serial Monitor".
  3. Click on the little magnifying-glass icon in the upper right corner of your sketch window.
