Pro Micro Clone not detected by Windows

I’ve started a little project to use a ATmega32U4 that I bought from AliExpress (I’m assuming a clone from reading the forums) to use on my racing simulator to control shift lights etc.

When I plug it into my PC windows doesn’t even blink at it, the power light on the board is on but it doesn’t show up in IDE 2.3.4 or on Simhub. My only COM is COM1 which is assigned to Windows I believe, I’ve tried device manager by showing hidden devices, unplugging it and replying it while detecting hardware changes and also bridging GND & RST twice to try and get the board to reset with no avail.

Can anybody assist me?

Get a magnifying glass and try to read the number of the USB chip. It will be close to the USB connector and be of a bigger size. Then google that number and look for the windows driver.

The board is a 32u4 board, and has native USB built in to the processor.

Why it is not seen by windows is not related to a driver for some usb/ttl interface chip.

Are you certain that you are using a usb data cable and not a charging cable.

I have tried a total of 5 micro USB cables - 2 of them being official Xbox cables which I use for my old Xbox controllers so I know they're definitely data

Is the PC port USB 2.0 or 3.0? There have been issues with other usb/ttl interfaces (ch340) with 3.0.

Can you see a Port if you put the pro micro into bootloader mode?

I’ve tried to reset it a few times after some googles but it does nothing. Attached a photo to see if it helps
