Problem connecting to WIFI extenders after WIFI update

I purchased several Nano RP2040 Connects and keep having a problem with them connecting to WIFI extenders after getting a WIFI update. When I first start using them I get the following message on the Serial Monitor:
WiFi.status(): 0
Current WiFi Firmware: 1.4.8
Latest WiFi Firmware: 1.5.0
Please update to the latest version for best performance.
However, at this point they work just fine with either of my two WIFI extenders and the main router. The first time I had this issue I purposefully updated WIFINNA to version 1.5.0. Right after that I could no longer connect to any WIFI extender. Since one of them was brand new I called and spent a couple of hours with NETGEAR tech support and the only thing that came out of that was that I could still connect to my main router (also NETGEAR). I put one of the other RP2040's in the project and again was able to connect to all extenders and the main router. This week I had another project stop connecting with the IOT cloud and in troubleshooting discovered that it had updated to the 1.5.0 version of the WIFI. Tested it with the main router and it started working again. I reloaded WIFINNIA 1.4.7 (I couldn't remember what version was original at that time) but it still wouldn't connect to the WIFI extender. I really need to get this particular project to connect with a WIFI extender. It is at the edge of the Nano's ability to connect to the main router. I have the extender within a few feet of the Nano.

Is anyone else having this same problem?

Does your problem have anything to do with wifi now able to use 5gHz band?

I don't think so. I am only using the 2.4ghz band on both the extenders and the router.
