Problem installing Arduino Uno!

I agree, the instructions on the Getting Started Guide are misleading.

Here are the steps that I followed on my Win7 system:

  1. Look under Other Devices. You should see a device named "Arduino Uno"
  2. Right click on the device "Arduino Uno" and choose the "Update Driver Software" option.
  3. Next, choose the "Browse my computer for Driver software" option.
  4. Finally, navigate to and select the "Drivers" folder of the Arduino Software download (not the "FTDI USB Drivers" sub-directory).
  5. Windows will finish up the driver installation from there.
