Problem starting Arduino 1.6 after upgrading Raspbian to Jessie

New install of arduino-1.6.5 will not start.

Details of my system: Raspberry Pi 2, Model B, VI 1

Raspberry PI 2, model B, VI 1
installed Damian Wheezy, upgraded to Jesse
install arduino 1.6.5 with Xarchiever

arduino will not start - when I double clik or try to open from desktop nothing happens. When I try to start any other way there is a quick flash and then nothing.

I cannot run arduino_debug either. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
