Problem uploading to t85 which has nothing do to with a PCREL error

I made the changes but it's not working for me for some reason. I get the following errors:

Arduino: 1.0.6 (Windows 7), Board: "ATtiny45 (internal 8 MHz clock)"
avrdude: please define PAGEL and BS2 signals in the configuration file for part ATtiny45
avrdude: Expected signature for ATtiny45 is 1E 92 06
Double check chip, or use -F to override this check.

Any ideas?

Wiring is the most likely culprit.

Wrong board selected?

The subject says t85, the errorcode says t45

Could perhaps a nice admin move it to there? Sorry for this brainfart.

The guide shows how to fix the 45:ers as well.

No. Your problem has nothing to do with that topic.

I’ve been trying to program my ATTiny45:s for hours. No luck. I tried every guide I found.

Crystals, caps and tons of foul language later I pull out the wires one more time and start all over again. This time my third hand with magnifying glass is out on the desk. I don’t use it for breadboarding, but it’s there this time. I suddenly see a glimpse of the ATTiny45 chip and get impressed how clearly I can read the text: ATTINY85. Wait, what?! 85? I immediately try to upload the blink sketch and voila! IT WORKS!

Turns out my order must have been mixed up somehow. I ordered a small bunch of 45:ers, but got 85:ers instead. I even went and double checked just to be sure. When I got them I never really bothered to read them. I just lined up the chip and started tinkering.

One more mistake to tick off the list as a beginner! And one more lesson learned. Woohoo! :OD

That's a nice score! You just got double the memory now. Although the price of a t85 is probably only around $0.20 more than the t45.

With my non-existent filing system for chips, I have to check the writing every time anyway.
