Problem using ESP-13 from Jaycar

Has anyone had any success using the esp-13 from jaycar?

The shield is being powered through my Arduino UNO. I have not been able to communicate with the shield via the UNO at all but it does create its own wifi network AI-THINKER which i can connect to without a password bit cant do anything from there.

Doing some reading it seems my only chances or getting it working is to flash the chip, but i dont have the gear to do it yet.

If anyone has had any luck with this shield out of the box?

I have the same set up, but experience the same you do. Did you have any luck?

Have you guys had any luck with this particular combination. I have tried numerous combinations without any success. Starting to think its a bad selection of product
