I have a nano clone that uses the CH340 chip installed the drivers. check device manager nano bd shows as a usb serial converter using the FTDI driver. looking under port it shows as com 6 using the FTDI driver. doesnt show the CH340 driver being installed under port. I need help please
Are you using an FTDI or a USB cable connected to the NANO. Did you try all 3 NANO clone variations?
Perhaps read the pinned post re 'How to get the most from the forum'
i am using a usb type c data cable. since device manager doesn't see the bd as a CH340 device the ide won't connect with the nano.
What OS? I have no problems with those clones on my Mac.
Why did you mention FTDI?
Which are you selecting?
How do you know it's a CH340 and not an FTDI. Is the problem that it fails to upload?
If it indeed looks like a CH340 but is identified as a FTDI you're not the only one and I would ask for a refund.
i am using windows. FTDI is the driver windows is assigning to nano in windows.
Arduino ide doesn't connect with MCU makes no difference whether i choose ATmega328P or ATmega328P with the old bootloader.
The vendor says it uses the CH340 Chip if it was using the FTDI driver it should upload at least the blink sketch. If it actually has a FTDI Chip. that is how i understand it. But i doubt it because it is a cheap Chinese clone.
Please post a clear picture of the serial-to-usb converter on the board
This is what a FTDI chip would look like (sorry, it did not take a shower)
This is what a real CH340 should look like
And this is probably what your CH340/FTDI looks like
The last one is a (more than likely) reject FTDI chip packaged in a CH340 package. Count the pins (16 for CH340 package, more for the real FTDI).
Did the vendor tell you how they know? The argument that they bought it like that is not valid.
Did you buy the Nano Clone from China? Did you buy from Aliexpress?
it has 16 pins and follows the CH340 / FTDI profile in your bottom picture
yes it came from Aliexpress
Thanks for your help its greatly appreciated. i contacted the vendor on Aliexpress.
Thanks to you all. just bought 3 bds from Amazon and the first one uploaded just fine. I will
just salvage the mcu and use it for another project
Hello. I think that the problem in recognizing the nano clone is in tyhe driver, because if I conect a UNO R3, it is recognizeed in the device manager as "ch340 comm X", instead if I conect a nano clone it is recogn ized only as "com X", without the ch340, then programs do not load into the Arduino because can't open the com port. I have got many nano clones from Aliexpress, because in the past, they used to work
