Problem with connecting nano to MacBook Air Mojave

What should I do my Arduino nano will not take a code it keeps coming up with this error code

Arduino: 1.8.15 (Mac OS X), Board: "Arduino Nano, ATmega328P (Old Bootloader)"

fork/exec /Users/Library/Arduino15/packages/arduino/tools/avr-gcc/7.3.0-atmel3.6.1-arduino5/bin/avr-g++: no such file or directory
Error compiling for board Arduino Nano.

what needs to be fixed?

This path feels weird. Don’t you have a user home directory? May be uninstall and reinstall the IDE being logged in as yourself

Ok so i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and I logged in this time and the came code comes up when trying to send the code to the board

Arduino: 1.8.15 (Mac OS X), Board: "Arduino Nano, ATmega328P (Old Bootloader)"

fork/exec /Users/breeves/Library/Arduino15/packages/arduino/tools/avr-gcc/7.3.0-atmel3.6.1-arduino5/bin/avr-g++: no such file or directory
Error compiling for board Arduino Nano.

its strange because it wont even let me send any code to the board and it keeps showing this error

can you double check what you have in this directory:

/Users/breeves/Library/Arduino15/packages/arduino/tools/avr-gcc/7.3.0-atmel3.6.1-arduino5/bin

that's what I see

so i tried looking for that and none of that on the picture comes up i have one file and all is says is Arduino and all it has is libraries and nothing else is on it

you are probably looking in the wrong place

  • select the finder
  • while viewing the Go pull-down menu, hold down the Option key to see the Library . It shows up between the Home and Computer menu options.

that's where /Users/breeves/Library lives

Ok so i got to that but in the picture of what it should look like that you sent me the file packages doesn't seem to show up the only file that has Arduino only have another file that only says library and nothing else on it

can you grab part of the screen (use command ⌘alt βŒ₯⇧4) and paste (command ⌘v) what you see as an image ?

this is what i see there's no packages file

No this is the System's library /System/Library

you want to see your own user's library folder: /Users/breeves/Library

are you logged in as breeves ?

if you can't get there, open a terminal, type
cd /Users/breeves/Library
then type
open .

Ok my bad i was in the wrong on this is what comes up under breeves

this is the only one that Arduino is under

You are not in the hidden library folder of your user...

I think I'll give up...

sorry im new to this coding stuff but i did find it now and theres nothing under the bin file it's blank

I don't know where you are looking ... so it's hard to help

ok youre screen shot has stuff in the bin folder and mines empty

OK seems you are in the right place and indeed it's missing

do you have enough disk space ?

if you go to the board Manager, do you see the "Arduino AVR boards" installed ? (did you get the IDE from the Arduino's download page directly ?)

(my interface is in French)

yes i downloaded it from the Arduino website. and the Arduino AVR Boards is installed but not on latest version i updated it and now its giving be this error code

Arduino: 1.8.15 (Mac OS X), Board: "Arduino Nano, ATmega328P (Old Bootloader)"

making progress !

seems you have the "Old Bootloader" selected for your Nano. Try to pick the normal one.
