Hi. I've been having some trouble with my LCD 1602 module, and was wondering if anyone could help? I've tried multiple scripts including the basic CustomCharacter script and several off the internet. I checked all of the pins and parts, they all are in the right place. The only parts in the circuit are the Arduino Uno, the breadboard, the potentiometer, and the LCD plus some jumper wires. All parts were pre-soldered and work in other circuits (Except the LCD) so that isn't the issue. The contrast and back light work, but no text appears on the LCD when I run a script.
Better post a diagram of your connections and a photograph - must be taken in daylight, not a dark room, and properly focused.
Have you connected pin 5 to ground?
Have you actually connected the display to the pin header inserted in the breadboard? Some optimistic people have simply sat the display on it without soldering.
I had not connected pin 5 to ground. Thank you for helping me out with this.
