Problem with Parallex Rev B PIR Motion Sensor - falsely triggers upon start up

Hi there,

I'm currently doing a PIR Motion sensor alarm project but I'm having trouble with the sensor... Everything works fine when the arduino and sensor is connected to my computer via USB. However, when I connect it with 6V batteries, my sensor goes off the once it stops calibrating. This does not happen when I restart immediately. It only happens after a long period of rest interval and I reconnect the circuit. :~

Can anyone please help me with this ?
I've tried to increase my calibration time but that does not really seem to work. Also I've added a short delay once it stops calibrating before I get it to start reading for outputs.

Thanks !

Read this about power supplies:

Just a guess, but maybe the 6V you supply isn't enough?- it's recommended that it's over 7V, if not 5V from the USB.

Hi,

Thanks for the response ! I've tried using a DC power supply to test our your suggestion. I tried input up to 9V (Since my model can only support a maximum of 3 3V batteries) but I'm still getting the same false triggers at the start (everything goes to normal once I restart immediately)... :~

It's strange cause it works perfectly fine on a USB to my computer ! Do you know if there is anything else that could be causing this ?
