You have not posted your RPi code so I have no idea whether it is compatble with your Arduino program.

I suggest you simplify the Arduino program so that it just sends "Hello World" once per second.

Have you got a second Arduino so you could try Arduino to Arduino wireless? I don't have an RPi.
