Problem with uploading board

RepRap Mendel, using boards Generation 3 Electronics from TechZone.

Problem with upload firmware to the Extruder Board (controller Atmega168):

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51

How to solve the problem?

Sofware - Arduino 0018

We are having the same issue, just got this for my sons birthday and I am lost.. he wants it going NOW!!! so any help would be great. Thanks!

Dear Users,

it is almost impossible to give more than just general tips if You don't provide a minimum set of information.

  • Operating System
  • Software version
  • Hardware setup

Make sure the drivers are installed and actually work.

Even though the Arduino and relatives come preloaded with a bootloader, my personal recommendation is to get a dedicated AVR programmer as well. Affordable ones for less than 30$ work just fine and can save you many headaches.

And it's about time to get a sticky post for this topic.

A datasheet for whatever a Reprap is would help as well ;) I found the website, but other than prices and pictures there isn't a lot on there......

I solved the problem. Bootloader in Generation 3 Electronic from TechZone has certain characteristics. For correct uploading is need press button "Reset" on board, run uploading and release button "Reset" ONLY AFTER Arduino write: "Binary sketch size: 7054 bytes (of a 14336 byte maximum)" (or something like that). In this variant all will Ok.
