Problem with using Arduino with Mac which has only usb-c ports

Hi, I was using a 7+ years old MacBook Pro with Arduino for years without issues. Since, I switched to MacBook Pro 16" which only has usb-c ports, I have been having issue in opening port, connecting to boot loader under both Mac OS and Windows 10 versions of Arduino IDE. Does it has something to do with usb-c to USB adapter? I have used both the Apple USB0C Digital AV Multiport adapter and a 3rd party adapter. Still not working.

Buy yourself an adaptor.
They are exceptionally cheap (unless you buy from snAPPLE).
Then simply buy a regular powered USB 2.0 hub to get past that restriction.

USB 3.x has on occasion caused issues for people and using a decent USB 2.0 hub has often proved itself to be a way around that.

Thank you. Why USB 3.x cause issues sometimes?

I have two usb-c to usb adapters already. One from Apple and another from a 3rd party company but I still have this problem. I will get a powered usb hub as you mentioned.

There are multiple reasons why USB 3.x can cause issues.

It is supposed to be a set standard but at the end of the day different manufacturers implement it in different ways with different chipsets. laptops being one of the more regular offenders where cheapness comes into play.

It is not just Arduino that has these problems with USB 3.x but many other pieces of hardware.
Most people seem to get lucky but a small amount do see such as your issue.

Thank you. You are right! I also have issues with using a few controller boards with my MacBook Pro. Too bad manufacturers these days are obsessed with thinness and removed legacy ports.
