problems picking up non-genuine arduinos on multiple usb cables.

Hi Everyone!

For a long time I have had this little Arduino Nano that was not manufactured by Arduino...
Today I wanted to use it for something and when I plugged it in with a mini usb cable, it didn't even pick up the Arduino. My first instinct was to try a different usb cable, as not all of them work. I tryed 4 usb cables and none of them worked. After surfing youtube and the troubleshooting page on the Arduino website, I still couldn't get my Arduino Nano to work. Could anyone help me with this problem?

My Computer is a MacBookPro running OS X El Capitan
I have Arduino IDE version 1.6.5
and I included a picture of my Arduino Nano below

Did you install the FTDI drivers?

I install the virtual COM FTDI drivers and restarted my computer and nothing worked

"Arduino Nano that was not manufactured by Arduino"
Are you sure it has an FTDI chip, FT232RL, on it?

Thanks for all your help,
I actually found out that my Arduino Nano is one of many that come from china not manufactured with actual FTDI chips, I found this helpful website that has a driver fix that allows you to use these arduinos with the IDE.
