problems with arduino nano 3.0

Dear All, As an university assistant professor, I have decided to use arduino nano 3.0 board for microcontroller labs. On monday, after one week of use, I had 2 arduinos killed ! I am very surprised because I am using arduinos since several months and I never had problems.

On both arduino nanos, the blue led light is very weak. The nanos are no more seen by the pc (I tried several pcs, always the same result).

Could someone please help me ? Is there a software that can test the ftdi chip ?

Thank you in advance, Best regards,

Is there a software that can test the ftdi chip ?

Yes it is the PC recognising it.

I spent 21 years as a university professor (as you would call it), it never ceases to amaze me what a student could destroy.

Well, do you think that arduino nanos are "student proof" ?

When I connect the defective nanos to a pc, nothing happen. What are the solutions ?

No nothing is.

What are the solutions

Buy a new one. Unless you are good at replacing surface mount chips. If you are then it is the FDI USB / serial bridge chip, the atmel chip is probably OK.

Make sure you have checked the USB lead first though.

Dear All,
Gravitech has kindly repaired my arduinos. I am happy to see that they are now perfectly working again !
best regards,
