Problems with ATMega328? (The one without the P?)

At least in Chile, I could only find the ATMega328, not the ATMega328P; there's an issue with the chip's signature.
I solved the issue by adding the extra chip in both the boards.txt

I thought it could be helpful to someone.

Genial, hace menos de una semana un amigo me comentó que no había podido usar el atmega de olimex, debió ser esto.

Yes, that's exactly it; MCI ltda. (aka olimex.cl) only sells the power hungry version.

Nice. I added your board definition in the mod

Could you add similar definitions for 1284 & 1284P?

I could try… but I don't think I can.
I don't really know what all of that means, I just knew that the ATMega328 is exactly the same as the ATMega328P but with a different signature.

Hello Experts,

I am in a similar situation, after being given ATMEGA 328-PU chips to works with. I am trying to follow these instructions, but cannot find the avrdude.conf file. I am using macintosh computer, which might put me at a disadvantage :frowning: Does anyone know where the avrdude.comf file is on a mac install of arduino?

Do a simple search. Easy to find in arduino path.
