While trying to program my robot, I noticed some things that were off.

1. The Serial Monitor on my computer (I have an iMac) began to lag and provide incorrect codes to the serial monitor, yet it was working completely fine just hours earlier.

2. That led me on a wild goose chase as to what could possibly be the case since my wiring and coding remained identical to how I left it earlier. I checked back on my IR Remote (in which I was using to transmit codes on to the Serial Monitor) and the batteries were not drained.

3. It led me to the "Port" drop down after a frustrating and prolonged trouble-shooting session. I noticed before-hand (luckily thanks to a video I had taken of my progress) that the Port I was using had the numbers "141" that followed the usual "usbmodem".

4. Yet when I reopened the drop down, I discovered that the Port I was currently using had the numbers "131" after the default "usbmodem". The "131" Port was the only one available for the board, with the others in non-relation to Arduino.

How can I fix this (knowing that I was successful using the previous port)?

I don't know the answer because I have never used a MAC. I suggest you edit your Original Post and change you title to mention that you are using a MAC.

Have you tried shutting down and restarting your MAC?
