Problems with SM5100B (+CME ERROR: 0)

Hi

I'm having problems with my SM5100B. Trying to do the example at Tronixstuff http://tronixstuff.wordpress.com/2011/01/19/tutorial-arduino-and-gsm-cellular-part-one/ but just cant complete it. When the GSM starts up, i get the following .... and then nothing. And yes, i do have an arial connected and the sim in with no pin.

Starting SM5100B Communication... èèÐè +SIND: 1

+SIND: 10,"SM",1,"FD",1,"LD",1,"MC",1,"RC",1,"ME",1

And AT+CSQ gives me

+CSQ: 0,99

OK

Is South Africa we use GSM 900 and GSM 1800.On AT+SBAND=0 i get

+CME ERROR: 0

:~ Does it mean the GSM unit is damaged/broken?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:( Anyone?

Do you have an antenna hooked up to the module? AT+CSQ is returning 0 for RSSI which to me sounds like it's not receiving a signal. Try calling the unit from another phone and see if it "rings"
