Hello Im having problems with the sound of my TV
I conect my computer with a S-video cable and a RCA to 3.5mm converter for the sound.
My problem is that a bis SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! sound is present every time, but If I disconnect my computer from the wall and run with battery the SSSSSSS!!! dissapear.
I think this is something related to the ground =S
The problem stop after move the power wire form one side to other, or other, like if an internal wire is cut but I dont think thats the problem because the charger dont seem to have any dissperfect at the outside, I mean the wire is as new.
How can I fix this problem any idea?
Thanks!
My wall contact is grounded and isulated I also try connecting the power form the same regulator for the tv, but is the same.
If I connect my ipod or another sound source the probles dissapear, is only wih my computer.
Wire the outside of the RCA to a metal part of the tv could help to share the ground?
Thats the only idea I had but is too late to try, I will try this tomorrow morning.
Connecting computers and audio devices frequently create ground loops that result in either power line frequency noise (50/60 Hz) or digital noise from the computer getting into the audio signal.
The problem usually originates from the computer and/or audio device designer not being careful about how the power line safety ground and signal grounds are handled.
There is no fool-proof single way to solve these problems. Some people will lift the safety ground on one or more devices, but defeating safety devices is not recommended. You can transformer isolate the audio, but since you're connecting both audio and video, this won't work for you.
I've spent a lot of time in recording studio forums trying to help people solve these problems. Even with pro gear, it can be hard to solve. TV's are probably the worst device to connect a computer to. Wish I had better news ...
But I can try wiring the external side of the RCA's
(this RCA's)
and then wire that to something of metal of my TV without risk of create damage?
just to se what happen, I think that doesn't matter but you tell me your opinion.
I also discover that if I only connect the sound wire, without the S-video, the noise is louder! so I thin the ground of my computer is the problem.
Is an old laptops (5 or 6 years ago) but is perfect for my purpose because I only use it to reproduce videos and is great because have the S-video output. I can't try with my new computer because my TV dont have HDMI input and my computer have only HDMI output.
As you can see I'm not in a studio with the lastest technology, im just looking to reduce the noise a little bit to see my familiar videos and one or two dvd's comfortable.
If your TV has a three-prong power cord, any exposed metal on the TV should be connected to safety ground. It should be safe to connect a separate ground wire to this.
If the TV has a two-wire cord, it might not be safe depending on the design of the TV. I tend to be conservative on forums when it comes to safety issues and would not recommend connecting to it.
If the the audio from your computer is quiet when you connect only the video to the TV, you might be able to use another amplifier/speaker (if you have it) for the audio.
Thanks, I read and know I now something about the ground loop. Personally I solve the problem using this:
I know, I know, this isn't the best solution isn't recommended to eliminate the third pin, but I use this configuration randomly, only to see some movie or familiar movies, so I think doesn't matter. And Im free of strange wirings as said before.
just another question, this problem is because the bad design of the computer or tv, or it have something to do with my house installation. I also try to conect the computer and tv to the same power regulator and wall contact but the problem persists.
